Wenita supplies logs to Domestic and Export customers. Log production from our own forests is approximately 350,000 cubic metres per annum, on a sustainable basis. Wenita also purchases logs from other forest owners (refer to the Woodlot section).
Wenita's domestic customers are located from Christchurch in the north to Invercargill in the south, though most business is conducted in the Otago and Southland regions. The main domestic log products are Pruned sawlogs, large diameter (30cm+) Unpruned sawlogs and chip logs. Domestic business currently accounts for approximately 50% of our log volume.
Wenita logs are predominantly exported
through Port Chalmers, located 15 minutes northeast of Dunedin.
Consideration is also given to using Port Bluff (Invercargill) and
Port Timaru from time to time. Wenita is an experienced log exporter
and has been selling export logs continuously since the company was
established in 1990. Wenita has recently entered into a contract
with Pacific Forest Products Ltd (PFP) to manage our export
marketing and shipping operations. Today our principal log market is
China, though we also have regular log sales to Korea, Taiwan and
India.
The main log products are Large Sawlogs (A Grade) Standard Sawlogs (K Grade) and Industrial (KI Grade), but we also make regular shipments of Pruned and Pulp grade logs. We specialise in Radiata pine, but also have the ability to supply other species such as Doublas Fir, Larch, Corsican pine and Eucalyptus from time to time.
