Wenita silviculture crews completed the 2020 planting programme in mid-August.
This year we replanted 590 hectares of cutover in the Wenita estate, mostly at Berwick and Waronui. We continued the afforestation programme for Ngai Tahu Forest Estates, planting an additional 530ha, mostly at the Makareao block near Dunback. We also planted a new forest area at George King Memorial Drive for Corisol New Zealand (190ha), making a combined area of 1310 hectares.
It has been a big and challenging programme, especially with difficult soil conditions at Dunback. A big thank you to all our planters, contractors and supervisors!
