The winter planting season for 2022 is almost completed.

There is about 93ha left to plant which will be completed in the next two weeks. This year there was a mix of planting in Wenita forests and in forests we manage for other forest owners.

Planting conditions have been excellent, with this winter being a lot wetter than usual. We have planted around 1.4 million trees at an average of 30ha per day with three planting crews.

We have also completed about 80ha of planting in the Southland forests we manage.

We have had challenges this season with Covid-19 and influenza spreading around. We were all affected – nurseries, logistics and planting crews – but we still managed to get the trees in the ground.

Wenita would like to thank its planting crews , the nurseries and everyone else involved for the effort they put into this season.
