On a stunning recent day in Dunedin, 11 dedicated members of the Wenita team volunteered at the Orokonui Ecosanctuary.

The team was divided into two groups: one wielding chainsaws to clear monitoring tracks blocked by logs and debris, the other using handsaws to remove unwanted eucalyptus regeneration from the native bush.

Guided by the Orokonui team, the Wenita volunteers ventured deep into the native bush – far beyond the reach of regular visitors – where we were treated to breathtaking views over Blueskin Bay. The tasks were physically demanding, presenting a robust challenge to the team. However, we supported each other throughout the day, and our efforts were greatly appreciated by the Orokonui team.
