Wenita Forest Products Limited is the largest producer of timber in Otago (320,000 cubic metres per annum).
Wenita manages a forest area of 30,000 hectares with 14 staff and approximately 120 contractors. We have three main forests in Otago-Mt Allan, Berwick and Otago Coast-mainly growing radiata pine.
Wenita is a private New Zealand-registered and operated company owned by two shareholders, Sinotrans & CSC Holdings(62%) and New Forests (38%).
Sinotrans is a Chinese state-owned enterprise that has been with us from the beginning. It has proven to be a very loyal and supportive owner through good times and more difficult ones. New Forests is an Australian-owned investment fund manager and it only purchased its shareholding in 2018. It has forest investments in many parts of the world and is increasing its investments in New Zealand.
