The Stewart Logging hauler crew has returned to Otago after 10 years in the Tairāwhiti/Gisborne region. Prior to leaving for the greener forests of Gisborne, Grant Stewart was running two haulers in Mt Allan forest, a Madill 071 and a Madill 172.

Grant started logging for Wenita with his 071 in 2007, having previously worked in Peter Saunders’ hauler crew for many years. The 172 (pictured) was added in 2010 when the Mt Allan stem harvesting operation was in full swing. It was the 172 machine that Grant took to Gisborne and the same machine he has brought home. It doesn’t look like an old hauler though, with a brand-new paint job and upgraded control system.

Stewart Logging is working in the Chinook block of Kakapo Estate near Palmerston and will be moving into the Wenita estate in a few months’ time.
