Wenita Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator Willie Sinclair has been appointed to the role of South Island Worker Representative on the Forestry Industry Safety Council (FISC).

FISC national safety director Fiona Ewing says worker engagement is key to the improvement journey in forestry and FISC recognises this by having worker representatives actively participating with the council. Willie was appointed after submitting an expression of interest when the role was publicly advertised on the Safetree website. Willie is one of two South Island representatives (the other is from Nelson).

The role has two functions:

  • to share views from workers at the council table, and
  • to share information from the council back out to the frontline.

Congratulations to Willie on his appointment!
